Not Sure How Apprenticeship Funding Works?
Funding rules can feel complex, but you don’t have to figure them out alone. Our team can help you understand eligibility, funding options, and what this course could look like in practice.
OTMA’s Business Administrator apprenticeship is a practical development programme for employees who support day-to-day business operations across teams, departments, and sectors. It’s ideal for employers looking to train and develop staff who can manage tasks, communicate effectively, support projects, and contribute to continuous improvement.
Business administrators play an essential role in keeping organisations organised, compliant, and productive. From managing information and communicating with stakeholders to supporting processes, projects, and internal systems, this apprenticeship helps learners build the capability to work confidently and professionally in a modern business environment.
Through a blend of online learning, coaching, and workplace application, apprentices will develop core knowledge, skills, and behaviours across key areas of business administration. The programme builds capability across areas such as:
Learners will explore how their role contributes to wider organisational success, developing a strong understanding of how administration supports customers, colleagues, suppliers, and business performance.
Apprentices will also build confidence in using multiple IT packages, maintaining records, supporting financial processes, organising meetings and events, and producing professional written communication. They’ll learn how to make decisions, manage workloads, solve problems, and act as a reliable point of contact within their organisation.
A key focus of the programme is professional development. Learners will develop the behaviours needed to succeed in business support roles, including integrity, reliability, resilience, initiative, adaptability, and professionalism.
Business Administrators are often at the centre of an organisation’s daily activity. They support teams, manage information, coordinate tasks, and help ensure processes run smoothly.
In their role, apprentices may interact with internal teams, customers, suppliers, stakeholders, and partner organisations. They may be responsible for preparing documents, managing data, supporting meetings, processing information, handling queries, and helping improve administrative procedures.
The Business Administrator apprenticeship helps learners understand how to work effectively within their organisation, communicate with authority, and support colleagues at different levels. As they grow in confidence, apprentices may also coach others, share best practice, and contribute to improvements across the workplace.
The Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship is delivered over 18 months and is equivalent to A level.
Learners benefit from dedicated skills coach support, structured learning, and opportunities to apply their development directly to their role. The programme is designed to help apprentices build practical competence while continuing to contribute to their organisation day to day.
By the end of the apprenticeship, learners will be able to complete administrative tasks to a high standard, manage priorities effectively, communicate professionally, and support business improvement with confidence.
For learners who aspire to move into supervisory or first-line management roles, the Business Administrator Apprenticeship can be enhanced with an optional CMI First-Line Management Programme.
Designed for new and aspiring managers, this programme helps learners develop the practical leadership skills needed to manage people, improve team performance, and contribute more effectively to organisational success. Topics include communication, team effectiveness, performance management, conflict resolution, and workplace improvement projects.
The programme provides an opportunity to build confidence as a leader while gaining valuable management experience that can be applied immediately in the workplace.
Benefits include:
The CMI Leadership Pathway is optional and may be subject to eligibility and employer requirements.
